Join Deborah Doane, author of ‘The INGO Problem: Power, Privilege and Renewal’, and Nana Asantewa Afadzinu, Executive Director of the West Africa Civil Society Institute, to discuss current challenges within the aid sector, how Southern NGOs are leading calls for structural change in global development, and whether International NGOs are rising to the challenge set. As Co-Leads of the ‘Reimagining the International NGO’ (RINGO project), they’ll share some of the successes and frustrations of making progress in a deeply engrained and colonial system. The discussion is open to all and will give students food for thought as they embark on their studies and think about a future career in development.

The discussion will be chaired by GDI’s Professor Nicola Banks, who joined them on RINGO’s Social Lab and co-founded One World Together to transform funding for a more community-centred future.
