The 5th session of INTALInC's international webinar series, showcasing the outputs and impacts of research activity over the last six years.
Gail Jennings, Winnie Sambu, and Alisha Myers (World Bicycle Relief), share findings from a series of research studies undertaken in 2022. Research was funded by USAID and in collaboration with JE Austin and Associates (JAA) (US), and by VREF (Volvo Research and Education Foundations).
Research comprised intercept surveys, focus groups, and participatory GIS (PGIS) activities, across rural Ghana, Zambia, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya. While the overarching purpose of the research was to understand the bicycle market system in these countries, the research also surfaced insights into the lived experience of mobility poverty, the tactics people use to find pays to afford motorised travel, and the particular gendered nature of mobility constraints and daily trip decision-making.
In three presentations, the World Bicycle Relief research team will share thematic findings across countries, as well as selected individual country findings and implications for policy and market system engagement around bicycle mobility.
