Title: Partial Difference Algebraic Groups
Abstract: A difference algebraic group is a subgroup of the general linear group defined by difference equations. Groups definable in ACFA (algebraically closed fields with an automorphism) have been widely studied, with applications including the proof of the Manin-Mumford conjecture. In contrast, partial difference fields do not admit a model companion, so instead we use an algebro-geometric approach to study groups defined over fields with finitely many commuting endomorphisms. In this talk I will introduce these partial difference algebraic groups and present some initial results, including the finiteness of their defining ideals and the existence of a dimension polynomial.
