In Conversation, MUARG and MUI present:
In collaboration with the Manchester Urban Institute, Jenny Fisher and James Evans will be in conversation discussing Urban Ageing and Sustainable Cities. The conversation will be chaired by Tine Buffel of MUARG and will explore the connections between ageing in cities and urban sustainability. James will draw on his research into smart cities and urban sustainability, while Jenny will discuss the role of community, the social aspects of ageing and the importance of a sense of place. The speakers have been challenged to explore how ageing and sustainable cities might also promote spatial and social justice.
The Manchester Urban Ageing Research Group brings together transdisciplinary perspectives on ageing populations and changing urban environments. Within these perspectives there are common principals that underline our research interests; these include, addressing inequalities, using co-production, spatial justice and influencing public policy. To better understand how we can apply these principals in our research we have developed the Conversations on Urban Ageing series.
This year’s conversation series sees MUARG in partnership with other institutes, bringing together transdisciplinary perspectives on ageing populations and urban environments.
