The theme of this summer event will be health inequalities. Each talk will be pitched at the non-expert, with 20-minute presentations and 10 minutes for discussion after each.
Programme:
3:00- Welcome and a few words about the Healthier Futures research platform (Nicky Cullum)
3:15- Health Inequalities and the Geography of Despair: The Role of Community Resilience (Christine Camacho, PhD Student in the Division of Population Health, Health Services Research and Primary Care, and Consultant in Public Health, Northern Care Alliance)
3:45- Fluoride and its role and limits in addressing oral health inequalities (Dr Lucy O'Malley, Senior Lecturer in Health Services Research, Division of Dentistry)
4:15- Lack of diagnosis creates major health inequalities – examples from TB, AIDS and corneal infections (Professor David Denning, Professor of Infectious Diseases, Division of Evolution, Infection and Genomics)
4:45 onwards- Drinks and Nibbles
