Join Manchester Urban Institute and Policy@Manchester for an interactive session, Policy Engagement for Early Stage Researchers: Generating impact in urban research.
This session is designed for postgraduate students and early career researchers who want ot explore how their work can make a difference beyond academia. With a focus on urban challenges, we will introduce practical ways to engage with policymakers at local, regional, and national levels, and show how research can inform and shape policy debates.
You will gain insights into how to write effectively for policy impact, communicate your research findings to diverse audiences, and identify opportunities for engagement. We will explore how Policy@Manchester can support you in connecting your research with regional decision-makers, as well as with national policymakers and parliamentary processes.
The session will also provide an overview of how to contribute to Select Committees, link your research to Areas of Research Interest, and influence legislation. Whether you are interested in housing, transport, climate resilience, or broader urban inequalities, this session will help you begin to translate your research into meaningful policy impact.
