Here’s everything you need to know:
What is it?
The University of Manchester’s Ideas with Impact Awards is a £300,000 prize pot to help researchers and entrepreneurs solve the world’s most pressing issues. Individual equity-free awards of £100k, £75k and £50k will be awarded to help turn bright ideas into social and economic enterprises of the future. The awards are made possible by the University’s generous community of donors.
Who can apply?
• Current students and staff at The University of Manchester
• Alumni from the University within the last 3 years
• 50% of the team must be in the above categories
Key dates:
• Applications close: 22nd May
• Outcomes announced: 12th June
• Pitching day and awards: 2nd July
Top tips for applicants:
• Be clear about the impact, not just the idea.
• Keep it simple! The judges won't be technical experts in your field so clarity beats complexity. If you can’t explain your idea to your friend or family member easily then it’s too complicated.
