The MIB EDI Committee at The University of Manchester invites staff and students, including Manchester Metropolitan University, to join us for the launch of our new seminar series, Bonds That Matter: Intersectional Voices in Chemistry, supported by the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Inclusion and Diversity Fund.
This series celebrates early-career chemists whose research and experiences highlight the power of intersectional perspectives, recognising how overlapping identities and backgrounds shape scientific journeys and discovery.
Our first speaker, Dr Jingwen Weng from Imperial College London, visits the Department of Chemistry, The University of Manchester, on Wednesday 26th November 2025, to give a seminar at 1:00 pm in Chemistry G.54.
Dr Weng will share her research on battery degradation, focusing on gas evolution and electrolyte-driven mechanisms, integrating material-to-cell level experiments with physics-based modelling.
She will also reflect on her career journey, from a Marie Sk?odowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow to an Imperial College Research Fellow (ICRF), and discuss how cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural experiences have shaped her scientific perspective.
Please note that this is a registered event: register using the Eventbrite link in the 'more information' section.
Date: Wednesday, 26th November 2025
Time: 1:00 pm
Location: Chemistry Building G.54, University of Manchester
We would be delighted if colleagues and students could join us in supporting the launch of this exciting new series!
