Overview
What makes a learning experience truly transformational? How can we move beyond content delivery (i.e "sage on the stage") to create meaningful, lasting impact for our students?
This workshop invites you to explore the principles and practices behind designing transformational learning journeys—experiences that challenge assumptions, foster deep reflection, and empower learners to grow both academically and personally. You will leave with practical strategies to overcome barriers and apply new approaches in your own context.
Intended learning outcomes
- Identify relevant learning theories (andragogy, behaviourist, constructivist, humanist) utilised within academic and healthcare settings.
- Explain how learning theories are used to underpin and enhance teaching and learning approaches.
- Explain the concept of transformational teaching and learning.
- Identify the 55 core behaviours of transformational educators.
- Critically discuss potential barriers to implementing transformational approaches in practice.
- Propose and consider potential strategies for overcoming such barriers.
- Commit to implementing one new educational theory in your own practice.
