CMEMS sponsors and co-organises the Medieval Quarter Festival with Manchester City Council.
Activities include:
Saturday Scriptorium – members of the public can write like a scribe with quills, ink, and parchment in the candlelit setting of the Baronial Hall at Chetham’s.
Tours of Chetham’s Library, with medieval manuscripts available for viewing.
Pop-up Medieval Drama – brief excerpts from medieval drama, where members of the public will be encouraged to boo, hiss, and cheer along the players.
Medieval Quarter Walking Tours – researched and organised by students of the University of Manchester.
Tours of Manchester Cathedral – at 12 noon and 2pm, specialist volunteers will offer guided tours of the Cathedral.
Medieval Re-enactors – the volunteer group Historia Normannis will do craft and battle re-enactments in the courtyard.
Falconry Display
Manchester Troubadours – performing medieval music and song.
