This 90-minute virtual summit — hosted by the Hub for Aging Collaboration and developed in partnership with interdisciplinary scholars from the University of Manchester, UCSF, and Wayne State University — will convene global thought leaders on ageing in community whose scholarships integrate research, theory, and practice to enhance work on community-centred initiatives and ageing equity.

The online summit will present three projects which advance scholarship through theory development, empirical research, and collaborative practice to address issues of inclusion, equity, and justice in community-centred initiatives on ageing. With discussant Tam E. Perry (Wayne State University), Tine Buffel (University of Manchester) will present her work on ‘Reimagining Age-friendly Communities: A Spatial Justice Approach to Urban Ageing Research’, Emily A. Greenfield and Clara J. Scher (Rutgers University) will present their work on ‘Aging Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as Part of Age-Friendly Community Practice’, and Jarmin Yeh (UCSF) will present their work on ‘Co-Creating an LGBTQ+ Adult Day Program: Lessons Learned From a Formative Evaluation’.

In addition to the three presentations of the researchers, the event will include a large-group reflection on cross-cutting themes facilitated by the discussant and live interactive participation from the audience members in facilitated breakout room discussions.
