Kath Checkland will explore some of the issues associated with obtaining grant funding for qualitative research in organisations. She will explore: how to present your research to appeal to funders; how to manage the mismatch between policy makers desire to find out ‘what works’ and the more messy reality of this kind of research; and the pitfalls associated with the conduct of research in a fast moving policy environment. Drawing on examples from the research done in the Health Policy, Politics and Organisations group in the Centre for Primary Care, she will provide an overview of how funding can be obtained to support non-traditional approaches to research.
