We'll be discussing the recent environmental sustainability ‘Ethical Grand Challenge’ event for Year 1 students at the Faculty of Life Sciences. This was attended by more than 150 students over an afternoon. The pilot event will feed into thinking about how best to conduct such an event across all faculties at the University.
We’ll hear about how the organisers approached the event, the range of activities included in the event, what the organisers hoped to achieve through the event and what the students made of it.
In the light of the organisers’ insights, we’ll discuss the rationale for such events, how such events may be approached in the future, what activities might be included and what alternatives there may be which have the same broad reach.
In future meetings we’ll be exploring the SEED Living Labs project and ‘The curriculum and systems thinking’. We’re on the lookout for other ideas so if you feel that there is something that we ought to be discussing, or if you wish to talk about your own ideas for the ways in which sustainability might be incorporated into the curriculum we’d like to learn more about them and include them in future meetings.
