The Northwest Biotech Initiative & the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Catalyst are delighted to invite you to the 2026 edition of our annual seminar exploring the journey from academic life to entrepreneurial success, AI x Biotech. Are you a student considering a future in entrepreneurship? This event is perfect for you—offering a glimpse into what it’s really like to start a company after university and answering some of your biggest questions about the path ahead. The seminar explores the possibilities of a Biotechnology future with the application of AI and Automation.

This year, the seminar will once again be held in parallel with the NWBI x IBIC Build a Biotech start-up competition final, providing an exciting opportunity to engage not only with our expert speakers, but also with the judges, mentors, and finalists involved in this year’s competition. You’ll be surrounded by the region’s brightest biotech innovators - and future founders! Stick around after the talks for free drinks and pizza and a networking session.

Location: Renold Innovation Hub (SISTER), University of Manchester ? Date: Tuesday, 14th April 2026 ? Time: 1:30 PM – 5:00 PM (DOORS CLOSE AT 2PM)

The event will explore key aspects of start-up creation and development, showcasing a range of lived experiences from biotech entrepreneurs and investors. You’ll also get to hear from the Build a Biotech finalists, who will pitch their start-up ideas live. One of the cash prizes will be decided entirely by audience vote - so come and support your favourite team!
