The Danels were the first to perform the complete 17 quartets of Mieczys?aw Weinberg, here at the University in November 2009. Since then, they have taken the cycle all over the world, and while others have recorded the quartets, their CPO set remains the benchmark.
The penultimate concert in the cycle sees Weinberg re-assessing his quartet style following the death of Shostakovich: continuing his legacy at the same time, gaining fresh inspiration from Bartók and Polish contemporary music, and culminating in the nine-movement No 15.
