Join the Faculty of Biology Medicine and Health (FBMH) for a talk by Dr Benji Laniakea, a leading expert in LGBTQ+ Healthcare, this event is open to ALL University staff and students.
Building on the Faculty's commitment to tackling health inequalities and our Equality and Diversity strategy, we are delighted to welcome Dr Benji Laniakea to support further discussion and development within our programmes of learning. We invite staff and students to join us in hearing from Benji about best practice in delivery of healthcare services and how we can use this understanding to deliver contemporaneous undergraduate learning, particularly for future healthcare practitioners.
In this session, we will cover recommendations for working with the LGBTQ+ adult patient population, from considerations surrounding rooming and privacy, to clinical updates in sexual health and cancer screenings, as well as providing an overview of care. Starting from a place of compassion, where we focus on and prioritise the needs and well-being of our patients, we will explore what more we can do to equip our learners for their place in a future NHS. We would love you to join us.
