Title: History of Maths for EDI in teaching
Abstract: The History for Inclusion & Diversity in Mathematics Network (HIDIM), set up in 2023, is a network which explores the use of history of mathematics to promote equality, diversity and inclusion in the mathematics curriculum in UK HE. The network consists of mathematicians, historians and teachers, all with a collective goal of understanding ways in which history of maths can improve EDI practice within undergraduate mathematics courses.
In this talk, we will discuss some of the work achieved by the network. This includes our most recent project of building a repository of resources. Our aim is to create a central hub, containing ready-to-go resources for teachers, which link history of maths with EDI values.
