This workshop will highlight key themes relating to the quality appraisal process in evidence synthesis. It will consider what quality appraisal is, why it is important when undertaking systematic reviews and highlight what resources are available to support quality appraisal. There will be a particular focus on recent methodological developments in available tools for quality appraisal of both quantitative and qualitative studies. In evidence, an approach that has been implemented by Cochrane and NICE. Finally, the workshop will provide the opportunity to discuss issues and seek advice and suport from fellow systematic reviewers carrying out quality appraisal.
This workshop is suitable for anyone thinking of/or currently conducting a systematic review who wants to advance their understanding of latest research in the field of quality appraisal of qualitative and quantitative studies.
