Suffragette: Charity Screening 8 March, 6pm. £21.55. Booking Essential
The Pankhurst Trust and The Village Screen presents a special screening of Suffragette and wine tasting reception from Morgenrot, in collaboration with the Whitworth.
6pm wine tasting reception.
7pm film screening
Come and join us to commemorate the incredible suffragette women 100 years after they fought for, and won, the vote for women in the UK, just yards away from 62 Nelson Street where the first meetings took place. Directed by Sarah Gavron and written by Abi Morgan, Suffragette (2015) is inspired by the true story of women’s suffrage in Britain. Starring Anne-Marie Duff, Carey Mulligan and Helena Bonham Carter, with Meryl Streep, the film follows the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement – women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal state.
