Online workshops: Social data and the third sector: evidence, skills and tools
Does your charity or project struggle to find the data to demonstrate needs in your community or show the impact of your work? When you find the data do you have the skills to analyse them?
In July, the UK Data Service is running a series of three introductory online workshops aimed at supporting organisations in the third sector to access and use quantitative data relevant to their services and projects’ needs. All three workshops are free to attend.
Workshop 2. Data skills: understanding survey data
An introduction to quantitative social data. Topics will include:
Social survey design
Carrying out secondary data analysis
Using data: descriptive statistics, two-way analysis, simple charts
The workshop will include a mix of presentations, exercises and follow-up discussion. Participants will be given worksheets and use Nesstar (free online tool) to complete activities.
