Recent ESID work has refined the idea of a political settlement and strengthened its social scientific footing. A pioneering survey has been conducted of political settlements across 42 countries in the Global South from Independence to the present day. The resulting database will be a global public good that will allow researchers to test the relationship between various aspects of the sociology and geometry of power and development outcomes. This webinar will reveal the database's potential uses and some early findings.
