ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr. Vikas Shah MBE DL started his first business aged just 14 and since then – he has gone on to build business in textiles, retail & technology. He has also spent over 15 years working with international NGOs and organisations worldwide at the forefront of fighting some of society’s most important problems. In this guest lecture, Vikas will talk about his entrepreneurship journey- the highs, the lows and the surprising turns – and will talk about how to balance growth and sustainability, purpose with profit, and the importance of giving back.
Vikas Shah isan entrepreneur, investor & philanthropist. He started his first business aged 14 and is now CEO of Swiscot Group (a textiles & commodities trading business) alongside being a venture-investor in a number of businesses internationally. He is a Non-Executive Board Member of the UK Government’s Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy and a Non-Executive Director of the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Vikas was awarded an MBE for Services to Business and the Economy in Her Majesty the Queen’s 2018 New Year’s Honours List and in 2021 became a Deputy Lieutenant of the Greater Manchester Lieutenancy.
