Title: A1-subgroups and their unipotent elements
Abstract: Let G be a simple algebraic group over an algebraically closed field of prime characteristic, and let u be a unipotent element of G. In this talk I will discuss when there exists a unique A1-subgroup of G containing u. This follows from recent work, joint with Donna Testerman, in which we establish to what degree an analogue of the Jacobson--Morozov Theorem for Lie algebras can be stated for simple algebraic groups defined over fields of (good) positive characteristic.
