(2) "I'm Still Me": Portraits & Stories of Cancer Rehabilitation with Facial Prostheses
Art Exhibition
Date: Monday 1st July - Wednesday 31st July - exhibition opening hours Monday-Friday 08:00-16:00
Location: Foyer, Ground Floor, Oglesby Cancer Research Building
Cost: Free
During July, the Oglesby Cancer Research Building will host "I'm Still Me", a free exhibition featuring prints of artworks of patients who wear facial prostheses and their accompanying stories. The exhibition in the building’s foyer space takes viewers on a journey of rehabilitation of people living with visible facial differences resulting from treatment for head and neck cancer. It provides an opportunity for staff, public and partners to engage with the portraits and narratives sharing unique stories and highlighting important messages about facial equalities. This exhibition disseminates the scientific research of Dr Rachael Jablonski. The art exhibition accompanying this research has been co-created with artists (Sarah Morley, Alison Murdoch, Brigid Brind, Jenny Mather, and Tracy Ireland), researchers (Dr Rachael Jablonski and Professor Sue Pavitt), writer (Dr Georgina Binnie-Wright), clinicians, and patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) contributors (Rebecca, Robin and Peter), who worked collaboratively as equal partners to set the project’s direction, objectives and key messages. This exhibition is free to attend and can be visited without prior registration between Monday-Friday 08:00-16:00. It is on display in the building's publicly-accessible foyer.
