Presented by the Centre for Criminology and Criminal Justice and Illicit Markets Research Group, this lecture presents the first results from a recently completed survey of incarcerated and non-incarcerated individuals who had experiences in acquiring illegal firearms in Quebec over the past twenty years. By examining these networks of illegal firearm access at the individual level, we are able to arrive at an understanding of the competitive level and structure of the general. Past research has demonstrated that individual is determined the
shape of a person’s social network. Results from the research describe how the demand for guns is structured in Quebec’s strictly controlled firearm market.
