Stravinsky Histoire du Soldat

Through jazz, tangos, marches and waltzes, we tell an old Russian Fairy tale. This dark Faustian fable about a deserting soldier and the Devil who eventually possesses his soul is set to music by Stravinsky. The soldier's violin becomes a symbol of both the soldier's soul and the Devil's wiles.

Estival returns again in June 2011 and promises to be bigger, better and more Russian than ever. Taking place in the final week of each academic year, Estival is always a great carnival filled with music and art celebrating the end of exams and looking forward to the summer! This year culminates in a performance of Shostakovich's masterpiece, the 5th Symphony.

Price: £5
