The Recognition and Enrichment of Archival Documents (READ) project aims to make archival material more accessible by training computers to read handwritten historical manuscripts. Join Dr Louise Seaward (UCL), coordinator of Transcribe Bentham, part of the READ project, to learn about the initiative and to work with Transkribus.

All participants must bring a laptop and download the Transkribus software in advance (instructions will be sent after booking). When booking a place at this workshop, you consent for your contact details to be shared with Louise so that she can add you to a shared collection that we will be using in the workshop.
The event is currently fully booked, but University of Manchester staff and students, and NWDTP students, can join the waitlist in case spaces become available. Please sign up using your university email address.
This workshop is organised by the Lives of Letters group and funded by a Collaboration Grant from the John Rylands Research Institute, and is presented as part of Digital Humanities Week.
