We are delighted to welcome to Manchester the President of Arizona State University, Professor Michael Crow and Professor Barry Bozeman Director of the Centre for Organisations Research and Design at ASU. Arizona State University has pioneered a vision of a sustainable university that responds to its cultural, socioeconomic, and physical setting, and is a force of societal transformation (see http://vimeo.com/3444693 for a brief video of that vision).
In the process of that transformation, they have also dramatically increased research income and the engagement of students and the community. ASU therefore represent a landmark case in organisational innovation in the HE sector, and are an inspirational case for all those who care about the future of the sector.
To mark their visit the Universities of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan have come together to co-sponsor a morning of open/public talks and interactive sessions and buffet lunch under the theme The Future of Universities: Sustainability and Beyond. PhDs and Masters students from Manchester and MMU are particularly welcome to these events.
