NIHR have announced a funding call focused on children and young people's health and wellbeing: Programme Grants for Applied Research - October 2026 | NIHR
Seeking to address the most challenging issues in CYPs health, care and wellbeing, the Programme Grants for Applied Research (PGfAR) programme is pleased to again be partnering with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) to invite programmes of research which can make a transformative stepped change in CYPs health, care and wellbeing.
The amount awarded and length of the funding period will depend on the nature of the proposed work, which should offer value for money. In recent funding opportunities PGfAR awards attract funding of around £2.0 - £3.5 million across 4 - 6 years.
The call opens in October, with a closing date of 2 December. There will be a webinar hosted by NIHR on Monday 29 June, 14:30 – 16:00 to provide further information.
Healthier Futures will be hosting a 'watching party' for this webinar, in the Emmeline Suite of the Christabel Pankhurst Institute. We will watch the webinar together, and then have some time to share potential ideas for any Manchester bid(s), consider where support might be needed, internal collaborators to be identified, and external partners to be approached.
If you are unable to join in person, you are welcome to join the conversation at the end of the webinar via Teams (at around 4pm).
Please complete the form if you plan to attend, so that we know the range of interest.
