Sophie Woodward will initiate discussion by talking on the theme of ‘Dormant Things’.
Houses are full of things we keep hold of but no longer use; some things that have accumulated in attics and drawers and we have no idea how they got there, other things are so evocative of other people and times that we are unable to get rid of them. The dormant things project aims to understand why we keep these things. http://projects.socialsciences.manchester.ac.uk/dormant-things/
In this session Sophie will introduce this work-in-progress project and some of the stories and themes that have emerged so far. Come prepared to show some of your own dormant things stories!
The workshop is free to attend, but you must register by emailing Victoria.Higham@manchester.ac.uk as places are limited.
