About the event
The first festival of its kind to focus on the importance of improving the physical health of people with severe and enduring mental illness (SMI), THINKphysical: Manchester Mental Health Festival will take place between 14 and 19 June 2015 at venues across Manchester, bringing together academic, healthcare and charity organisations alongside service users, carers and the general public in a week-long series of fantastic events.
The official launch event will include a number of high-profile keynote speakers (Professor Ruth Boaden, Professor Karina Lovell, Dr David Shiers, Professor Jo Smith, Rachel Kelly, Professor Simon Gilbody, Dr Tim Bradshaw and Professor Alison Yung) who are all passionate about mental health and keen to share their knowledge and experience.
The event will also include the premier of a series of short films, produced by Recovery Castle and Mental Health Warrior (two of Manchester's most innovative organisations in raising awareness of mental health issues), and a poster display session, featuring work produced by University of Manchester graduates and postgraduates and other academic organisations with a mental health theme of work.
