Title: Quantum walks on Cayley graphs
Abstract: A quantum walk on a graph is a model originating from Physics that has been studied extensively in Quantum Information Theory. In this context a qubit is a 2-dimensional complex vector space. One considers a graph with a qubit assigned to each vertex, and interactions between qubits defined by the edges. Many questions about the time evolution of states, such as perfect state transfer, can be analyzed using tools of algebraic graph theory. This talk will give a general introduction to this topic and discuss recent joint work with Julien Sorci in which character theory is used to construct many examples perfect state transfer in Cayley graphs of extraspecial 2-groups.
