I will present zebrafish epiboly as a model for the mechanical analysis of morphogenesis and show that the overall biomechanics of the process, which depends on actomyosin contractility and endocytosis, is regulated by JNK signaling. Further I will discuss briefly how JNK signaling can also affect the mechanics of other morphogenetic processes and comment on the condensation of the embryonic CNS of Drosophila.
