The international curator and director of Hong Kong's new M+ museum for visual culture leads a one-off tour of our new exhibition
The M+ Sigg Collection is an extraordinary exhibition drawn from an extraordinary collection, one put together by the Swiss collector Uli Sigg and now recognised as the largest and most comprehensive of its kind in the world. The collection will form the backbone of the new M+ museum for visual culture in Hong Kong (due to open to the public in 2019) and on Wednesday 1 July its executive director, Lars Nittve, comes to the Whitworth to lead a very special tour of the exhibition.
It's the chance to hear from one of the world's leading curators and creative directors why the artworks in this show - which span four decades of fast-moving Chinese contemporary art - are so important. Lars Nittve is the founding director of Tate Modern and the former director of the Moderna Museet in Stockholm. He set up the contemporary-art focused Rooseum in Malmo, Sweden and has also been the director of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebaek, Denmark.
