This session provides a conversational, non-judgmental space to increase confidence and familiarity around trans identities and rights, and to learn how to create a positive experience for trans students and staff in higher education. It will cover the basics of trans identities and related terminology alongside practical aspects of trans inclusivity, including pronouns, personal details, safeguarding confidentiality, key issues trans students might face, and signalling that your university is a trans-friendly institution. It will also provide clarity on recent legal changes, including the 2026 EHRC statutory guidance on the Equality Act 2010. You’ll have the chance to ask questions and discuss problems specific to your area of work, and there will also be an opportunity to ask anonymous questions.
