Join us at MVN 2025 - a celebration of Manchester’s vision and ophthalmic community!

We are pleased to announce that the eighth Manchester Vision Network Research Showcase and Networking Event will take place on Wednesday 16th July 2025 in the Postgraduate Centre Lecture Theatre (The Boulevard, M13 9NQ), on the Education Campus of Manchester Royal Infirmary, located a short walk from the University. This annual event provides a multidisciplinary forum for clinicians, researchers, and technology developers, interested in ophthalmic and vision science.

The event will feature oral presentations, poster presentations and networking opportunities. This year the keynote speaker will be Professor Rachael Pearson of King’s College London (KCL). Professor Pearson leads the Ocular Cell and Gene Therapy Group at KCL, a group undertaking fascinating work on restoration of visual function in retinal degeneration. Professor Pearson will deliver a talk titled “Restoring vision with stem cell-derived photoreceptor replacement therapy” at this year’s event. A second keynote will be delivered by this year’s winner of the Janus Kulikowski Award.

The 2025 Small Award Scheme will be launched during the day.

The Janus Kulikowski Research Award 2025

The Manchester Vision Network is pleased to welcome nominations for the annual award for the most outstanding research output from a researcher working within the Network. The award of £250 is open to postgraduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and research fellows. The research output will usually be in the form of a published academic paper, but other equivalent outputs will be considered. The Award made in 2025 will be for outputs published in the 2024 calendar year.

Nominations for the award can be made by the researcher themselves, or by a colleague on their behalf. The nomination should include a copy of the paper or other output, plus a short commentary describing the particular contribution of the nominee, the reasons for the output being particularly significant, and where the work fits within the career progression of the nominee.

Please send nominations to chris.dickinson@manchester.ac.uk by 23 May 2025. The winner will be notified by 21st June 2025, and will be required to deliver a keynote lecture at the MVN Annual Meeting on 16th July 2025.
