About the event:
Infectious diseases can trap communities into a cycle of poverty and ill-health. Around one billion people globally have gut worm infections, and they impact enormously on education and local economies. By developing initiatives such as “The Worm Wagon”, interactive games and traditional Indian art (Rangoli), they have reached over 45,000 people including school children and community groups to raise awareness of global worm infection.
They are winners of the 2013 Manchester International Women’s Day award for Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and Sheena was also awarded the Society of Biology Science Communication Award in 2013.
