Title: Spatially explicit discrete choice experiments: an application to coastal management in the Kimberley, Western Australia
Abstract
The northern coast of the Kimberley region (in Western Australia) stretches some 7,331 km, and has some of the most remote and undeveloped coastline in Australia. It is however, exposed to development pressures, from tourism, fishing and the oil and gas industry. A study has been commissioned to identify public preferences for development/protection of the Kimberley coast. This seminar will report the results from a spatially explicit discrete choice experiment that not only measures which types of management outcome are valued, but if there are differences in values depending on where on the coast these may occur.
