Shostakovich Quartet No. 10 in A flat, Op. 118
The Quatuor Danel’s tenth year at the University opens with a reminder of the infancy of the string quartet medium from Haydn’s first opus, composed in 1762, followed by the first of eight Shostakovich quartets in the season - a profound and stirring Soviet masterpiece featuring a blistering furioso Scherzo.
