Dr Beata Nowok, Longitudinal Studies Centre Scotland

Abstract: Confidentiality constraints severely restrict access to unique and valuable microdata in many contexts. Synthetic data that mimic original observed data and preserve relationships between variables but do not contain any disclosive records are considered as an alternative dissemination strategy by an increasing number of data holders. To simplify the process of obtaining and evaluating such data we have been developing the synthpop package for R. In this talk I will present our contribution, provide synthetic data examples, describe various applications, discuss what we have learned so far (also from data custodians), and highlight necessary further developments of synthetic data toolkit.

Tea/coffee and cakes from 2.45.

Join us for this event, which is part of the CMI Afternoon Seminar Series. All welcome. No registration necessary.
