A story of a University of Manchester digital health start-up (Clin-e-cal) that develops innovative solutions in respiratory medicine.
This guest lecture will tell the story of a University of Manchester digital health start-up company Clin-e-cal that develops innovative solutions in respiratory medicine. It will cover the story from the initial idea and how it developed to the point of spinning out, the key milestones in the company so far, including fundraising, technical development, regulatory, building evidence and securing partnerships as well as the future plans and ambitions. It aims to inform students, academics and budding entrepreneurs of the real-world challenges in the sector and to inspire discussions around entrepreneurship and starting a company from the very earliest stages.
Dr. Lizzie Crawford is CEO of Clin-e-cal. Having spent 9 years working at UMIP (University of Manchester Intellectual Property) alongside academics to commercialise technologies, Lizzie has a breadth of experience in nurturing the earliest phases of technology development across the life science and medical device sector. Of the multitude of projects that she saw during these years, it was Clin-e-cals’s Sound Response technology which caught Lizzie’s imagination and made her take the leap from technology transfer professional to entrepreneur.
