Join us for a day of making, performance and play, all through the medium of paper.

Performances:
Hallé Baby.
11am – 11.45am & 12pm -12:45pm.
Location: Grand Hall.
Join us for this classical concert with a difference as the Hallé orchestra and the Whitworth join forces to bring you a music, paper and play extravaganza. For under 5s and their grown ups.

Kamishibai Paper Cinema.
12pm- 12.45pm & 3pm – 3.45pm.
Location: New Acquisitions.
Kamishibai or ‘paper drama’ is a traditional Japanese form of storytelling. Join the Kamishibai Gagi and his bicycle theatre for tall tales and paper stories.
Time’s Garland for the Year.
2pm - 5pm.
Location: Grand Hall.
Durational performance from artist Nicola Dale, inspired by Walter Crane’s, Time’s Garland for the Year. Watch as 365 sheets of green paper in different shades, textures and weights are transformed into an extraordinary green space.
Workshops and installations:
Pop-Up Paper Florist.
10am – 5pm.
Location: New Acquisitions.
Visit our pop-up stall and help florists create beautiful paper bouquets and blooms.
Flutter.
11am - 1pm.
Location: Portraits.
Dust in the crevice of an old book’s spine, the crumple of scraps, the scratch of a biro. Paper as sound, shape and stimulus. Whitworth Young Contemporaries artists Helen Newman & Cave Man present an interactive challenge to the senses.
Noise Orchestra.
2pm – 5pm.
Location: Portraits.
Create graphical paper scores inspired by the patterns of the Whitworth wallpapers. Expect electronics, turntables, light and noise!
Cutting Edge.
10am -5pm.
Location: Watercolours.
Fold, cut, shape and tear. Work with artists to build a Tibor Reich-inspired geometric paper installation.
Wallpaper Studio.
10am - 5pm.
Location: Learning Studio.
Inspired by our bold and beautiful wallpapers, come and create colourful patterned prints with your whole family.
