Englesea Brook Chapel and Museum joins the John Rylands Research Institute and Library to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Hugh Bourne. As one of the co-founders of the Primitive Methodist movement, Bourne shaped the religious and social lives of thousands of people, especially in the North of England.
Between 1pm and 3:30pm, drop in to take a closer look at items from the Methodist collection, including Bourne’s original letters and notebooks in our Collection Encounter. Find out more about the importance of these collections and Primitive Methodism in British history. A pop-up exhibition ‘Transformed Lives; Transforming Lives’ curated by the Englesea Brook Chapel and Museum will also be on display, spanning the history and heritage of the Chapel and its connection to Hugh Bourne.
