A day school exploring the many ways in which China has been represented in museums: as a powerful state resistant to Western colonial exploitation and intervention; as an aesthetic experience that evokes a particular response from the onlooker; and as an impressive cultural entity equally matched with the splendour of ancient Greece and Rome. The presentations will be delivered by experts from The University of Manchester, the University of Cambridge, the V & A and elsewhere.
