Drop-in for a concert inspired by music pioneer Delia Derbyshire (1937-2001), a key figure in the development of electronic music and sound design in Britain. Postgraduate composition students from the Martin Harris Centre for Music and Drama provide a unique afternoon of music for voices and electronics. Staged in the magnificent Historic Reading Room, experience fourteen world premieres, with electronic compositions heard alongside works performed by the University of Manchester’s student choir, Ad Solem.
In addition, you can also explore items from the Delia Derbyshire archive held at the Rylands. Based at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop from 1962-1973, she also composed for film, theatre, live happenings and festivals with her contributions often uncredited.
