Manchester Museum is delighted to be hosting Manchester's annual commemoration of the Hiroshima and Nagaski atomic weapon attacks and civilian vicitms of war and terrorism. Members of each of Manchester's faith communities are invited to Manchester City Council's annual peace commemoration service for the 74th anniversary of the atomic attacks of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and to remember all civilians killed in war or terrorism since 1945. Manchester City Council is a Vice President of Mayors for Peace and the event shows its solidarity with Hiroshima, Nagasaki and all towns and cities badly affected by war and terrorism. The event will be led by the Lord Mayor of Manchester and include readings, poetry, reflection and the laying of a white flowered wreath. It will take place in the Museum's Living World gallery adjacent to the Peace Exhibit and The Singh Twins artwork 'Jallianwala:Repression and Retribution'. Following the ceremony, there will be an opportunity to fold a peace crane or bee. All are welcome
