Join us for Professor Sir Tim Besley's public lecture addressing how trust in the government is linked to economic performance.
In this lecture, Professor Sir Tim Besley will explore the determinants and consequences of trust in government. Trust matters not only as barometer for the health of the political system but also because it facilitates compliance with government policies.
The lecture will argue that, rather than political institutions, measures of economic performance, such as economic growth, seem to be most important in explaining differences across countries and how trust has changed over time. This has implications for countries that experience prolonged periods of economic stagnation.
The lecture will be in the Samuel Alexander Lecture Theatre, followed by a drink's reception in the foyer.
This is a hybrid event so make sure to book the appropriate ticket at checkout. The zoom link will be shared closer to the event.
