To mark 100 years since the UK had its first Labour Government, People’s History Museum and the John Rylands Library will be collaborating on this free event. Drop-in to the beautiful Historic Reading Room to see objects relating to Ramsay MacDonald (1866-1937), the UK’s First Labour Prime Minister, and talk to our archivists to find out more about Ramsay MacDonald’s role in the Labour movement and the man behind the politics. Highlights include the notorious Zinoviev letter forgery, Ramsay’s correspondence and election pamphlets plus artefacts relating to his wife Margaret MacDonald (1870-1911), a feminist and social reformer.
