The University of Manchester Gateway Programme provides a new opportunity for Year 7-11 learners within Greater Manchester to participate in a coherent series of academic enrichment and Higher Education awareness activities.
The Y7 University Uncovered Visit is a generic introduction to university with subject-specific taster sessions offered in one of the three subject areas:
•	Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM)
•	Medical, Human and Biological Sciences
•	Humanities.
Students will be taken on a behind-the-scenes campus tour of our Oxford Road Campus, to include the John Rylands University Library, the Whitworth Hall and John Owens Quadrangle, a lecture theatre & seminar room, the Students' Union and the Refectory. Students will then take part in a 2 hour session designed to introduce students to some of the subjects that can be studied at university and tests their current knowledge and their problem-solving and team-working skills.
