The Sustainability sandpit is a two-day event scheduled to take place from 14.00 to 16.00 on Weds 17 and Thurs 18 November.
We are keen to facilitate a sandpit where a range of stakeholders come together to discuss issues and potential solutions around sustainability in which Data Science and Artificial Intelligence can play a key role.
Participants will develop proposals over the two days and our review panel will award funding for a number of six-month feasibility studies (~£10-15k per successful proposal).
Please note that due to the nature of this funding, each funded project must be led by a researcher from The University of Manchester.
Intellectual Property rights will be subject to terms and conditions as agreed between the Alan Turing Institute and The University of Manchester.
Please share this invitation with suitable collaborators: this sandpit is an opportunity for researchers, private, public and third sector to come together and devise research proposals for projects on topics related to sustainability and data science and AI.
Background:
Through our partnership with the Alan Turing Institute, the University of Manchester’s Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (IDSAI) is hosting a number of ‘sandpit’ events in Autumn-Winter 2021-22, with input from the related Turing Institute programmes.
